Personal Meditation Mentoring
It all begins with an idea of knowing there is a different way of being.
Perhaps you’ve tried apps, books, podcasts or retreats before. You know it works, you can feel the value but you just can’t seem to make the practice stick. I can help you to build a sustainable meditation practice into the life you already have. The benefits of having a regular self-practice has been proven to reduce stress and improve quality of daily life. It does so by offering us new ways to meet the inevitable highs and lows with more presence, ease and compassion.
My teaching style is derived from the rigorously tested and evidence based Mindfulness based Stress Reduction (MBSR) approach. A blend of ancient wisdom and modern psychology which is evidence based and integrated into the NHS. Find out more about MBSR and the group immersion here.
Private one-to-one sessions can be held in-person in Newquay, at your home or online. Learning and integration best happens over a period of 6-8 consecutive weeks, however single sessions can also be selected whenever you need them.

The awareness that arises from consistent meditation practice helps to free us from habitual tendencies which keep us stuck.
MBSR introduces practices and skills that aim to bring about a different way of relating to experience, replacing an old mode of ‘fixing and repairing’ problems with a mode of allowing things to be as they are in order to see more clearly how best to respond. -
You are not failing at meditation by having a busy mind. This a part of meditation and a key feature in the practice. In fact, you are in the perfect position to begin.

This session will include guided meditation practice, inquiry and discussion to help you switch from doing into being; to find your ‘off switch’, or come into greater harmony with yourself.
Cultivation of your self-practice will emerge as a natural result alongside a different relationship to stress, should you wish to continue with mentoring and home practice beyond this 1 session.
This is not an immediate treatment, even though 1 session is beneficial and a fantastic start, 6-8 sessions is recommended for a noticeable and sustainable result.

We will spend time tailoring a meditation practice to your particular situation, conditioning and intentions.
A weekly succession of at 6 sessions with commitment to home practice in between sessions will offer you a strong beginning into cultivating your self-practice.
You will leave this container having insights into your own relationship to stress and practices to help you continue beyond the 6 weeks. You will graduate with access to continuing 1:1 support for your practice with Jen via email.

Online or in-person depending on your location, ideally over 6 consecutive weeks.
The importance of having a guide when cultivating a personal meditation practice is under emphasised in this day and age of digital one-way classes. generic apps, books, podcasts and videos can be unsafe when diving into our hearts and minds.
We will spend time tailoring a meditation practice to your life, conditioning, mental and physical health needs. Cultivation of your self-practice will emerge as a natural result alongside a different relationship to stress.
Evidence shows that a weekly succession of 8 sessions with commitment to home practice in between sessions is the ideal start for sustainable longterm benefit.
You will leave this container fully fledged with your own mediation practice that fits around the life you already have; to assist you ride the weather of life. You will graduate with access to continuing high touch 1:1 support with Jen beyond your sessions, and invitations to join sitting groups with other meditators.

What is Mindfulness, really?To practice being ‘Mind-full’ as opposed to ‘Mind-less’, is a skill we cultivate by developing awareness. ‘Mindlessness’ can be seen as sloppy attention to the details of our lives, but as we deepen our focus and pay attention to the present moment we can ‘wake up’ from autopilot and move back into the driving seat.
Waking up is not just the business of ‘awakened’ beings, but the business of everyone. We have all experienced a moment of clarity or insight, whether sitting on a meditation cushion, getting in the ocean, walking the dog or simply drinking a cup of tea.
In taking a mindful approach to our inner nature; sensations, thoughts and feelings, we craft a new relationship with ourselves. We become a valuable friend that can observe and guide us through the weather of our lives with skill and grace.
In practising mindfulness we learn tools and techniques that empower us to be mentally hygienic.
Everybody is born with awareness, the practice of meditation helps us to cultivate access to it.
